(HARRISBURG) – State Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37) hosted the Wreaths Across America ceremony in the Pennsylvania State Capitol building on Tuesday, Dec. 14, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Main Capitol Rotunda.
“I am grateful join with my colleague, Sen. Jay Costa, in hosting the Wreaths Across America ceremony to remember our veterans and fallen heroes this time of year,” said Sen. Robinson. “In many American homes during holiday meals, there is an empty seat for a family member who has served. The Wreaths Across America organization provides for a meaningful way we can show our reverence and gratitude for veterans and their families.”
The Wreaths Across America Day project began in 1992 at Arlington National Cemetery and is now an annual tradition celebrated in all 50 states joining together thousands of volunteers to place Maine balsam fir wreaths on the graves of United States veterans.
Sen. Robinson and Sen. Costa also worked together in introducing Senate Resolution 212 designating December 18, 2021, as “Wreaths Across America Day” in Pennsylvania.
“Every day, especially during the holidays, we remember our brave veterans who have passed away,” Sen. Robinson said. “The nationwide Wreaths Across America event this Saturday, Senate Resolution 212, and our ceremony on Tuesday are ways we can bring attention to this important display of appreciation and encourage folks to volunteer for this program. It’s imperative we show our deep respect to those who have served our country with honor. Let’s say their names this holiday season.”
