(HARRISBURG) – State Sen. Devlin Robinson’s (R-37) bill to increase public-private partnerships and enhance employment opportunities was approved today by the state Senate.
“When I took office, I promised the 37th District I would prioritize job creation and boost our economy by capitalizing on the resources, industries, and state-of-the-art research facilities that we have in our very own backyard,” said Sen. Robinson. “This legislation has the potential to advance the Pittsburgh region’s role as a world leader in additive manufacturing, and represents a vision for opportunities like this all across the Commonwealth.”
Senate Bill 706 establishes the Max Manufacturing Initiative Fund and Max Manufacturing Endeavor Loan Fund. This bill aims to create stronger public-private partnerships between state universities and private entities, and maximizes research capabilities with cutting edge technologies. It is projected to make Pennsylvania more friendly to the manufacturing industry and create jobs.
“This legislation is an example of what can happen when we work together to find meaningful ways to encourage innovation, development, and advances in technology and science,” said Sen. Robinson. “Senate Bill 706 has strong bipartisan support from the legislature, the Department of Community and Economic Development, Allegheny County, and leaders in the manufacturing industry, and I am pleased to see its advancement.”
Sen. Robinson’s bill now goes to the House of Representatives for consideration.
